Fish Eye Drawings
JULY–AUGUST 2004On view in Gallery 2 will be a selection of oil pastel drawings of fish eyes by Paul Plante. Each day, Plante produces two, three, or even four small oil pastel drawings. They are investigations of the natural world, focusing intently on the eye of a bird or fish. Often the results are brightly colored abstractions that reflect the unusualness of things we see all around us, yet never really look at. He regards his work as an extension of the focused and reflective way in which he tries to live his life, as well as an exploration of both the process and product of art.
